e-Cathode™ - Process Lids and Doors

Sputtering Components e-Cathode™ process lids (compartments) and doors are a turnkey solution for new or existing coaters.

OEM lids for new coaters
Available in both digital and analog formats, vertical or horizontal orientation and customized to end user needs. OEM lids and doors can be purchased as a complete system or scaled-back according to your requirements.

Lid clones
For users needing to add cathodes to their existing coater, our process lid clones match all your current external mechanical and electrical interfaces but use SCI end blocks, magnet bars and control systems. We can also modify your existing lid designs to meet your changing needs

Cathode retrofits
If unreliable cathodes are affecting your bottom line, you can improve coater efficiency and lower maintenance costs with a cathode retrofit by Sputtering Components.

  • For any manufacturer's cathodes, we have a “plug-and-play,” retrofit kit that will match your current external mechanical and electrical interfaces and will be compatible with existing control systems.
  • You can keep using your magnet bars and target tubes to ensure the retrofit will not affect your process, or you can switch to the industry-proven SCI magnetics.
  • You can install the retrofit kits at your facility, with as much or as little help from us as you need.

End Blocks

From 20-200 kW, Sputtering Components has a complete line of internal and external-mount end blocks.

Single sided and with few parts, they are designed to be extremely reliable. They require little maintenance, and you can do it yourself, in our own factory, with your own people, and on your own schedule for the industry's lowest cost of ownership.

Advanced Magnetics

SCI Advanced Magnetics are available in three basic models: the three-row TRM-Bar™ and the four-row mQRM-Bar™ and QRM-Bar™, which have a patented turnaround to increase target utilization.

  • Designed using 3D finite element analysis software to fit your application requirements
  • Contain carefully matched, high-strength magnets that are factory calibrated using an automated magnet bar measurement tool for uniform coatings
  • Have a simple installation procedure with solutions for vertical installation and installation to end blocks from other manufacturer

RAM-Bar™ (Remotely Adjustable Magnet Bar)

With the Remotely Adjustable Magnet Bar, you can position and fine tune the distance between the magnetics and the target surface from outside the system and during operation to eliminate costly system shutdown.

Compatible with all SCI end blocks for 125 mm ID targets and available with any of the advanced magnetics, the RAM-Bar™ allows for up to 4 mm vertical difference between adjustment locations for very fine tuning. It can attain uniformity requirements of less than +/-1%.

Batteries are easily replaceable, standard rechargeable Li-ion packs.

The system has robust industrial communication via Ethernet gateway and fiber optics for control. Multiple magnet bars can be controlled through the coater PLC or using a dedicated computer. The software is easy-to-use and customizable.
